TRIGLAV NATIONAL PARK, BOHINJ
This is a trip for those who wish to combine the amazing scenery of Triglav National Park with hiking as well as history and unique architecture that can only be seen here.
After we pick you up from your accommodation we visit the Vintgar gorge, a narrow passage that was carved by the pristine Radovna river. The path follows the river canyon, where parts of the hike are done on overhanging wooden passages that cross the river. The hike is 1,6 km long with a beautifull waterfall at the end. We return to the van the same way.
From Vintgar we drive to Bohinj, where you can experience untouched nature of Triglav National Park first hand. We will drive through the impressive Sava river canyons as we make our way to Bohinj.
We will then stop by Lake Bohinj where you’ll learn about it’s history and see the 700 year-old church of St.John the Baptist. You can admire the high mountains of the Julian Alps reflecting in Lake Bohinj’s surface from a stone built bridge at the eastern tip of the lake. We will make a lunch break in Bohinj, which offers a range of restaurants with both modern and traditional Slovene cuisine.
Our tour then continues to Savica waterfall (78 m high), a Karst type spring hidden in the mountains above Lake Bohinj. To get there we’ll complete a nice 25 minute hike through the forrest and enjoy one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Slovenia. We then take you to the top of Mt.Vogel (1535m) by a modern cable car (ticket not included). On top of this popular ski centre you can admire the breathtaking view of Lake Bohinj and the highest peaks of the Julian Alps, including Triglav (at 2864m towering above the lake).
We then return back to the valley by cable car. This will be a remarkable day for nature lovers that enjoy the outdoors!
